Experience Life as the Babette's feast!

Babette's Feast (Danish: Babettes Gæstebud) is a 1987 Danish drama film directed by Gabriel Axel and won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

This delicious movie depicts the story of Babette who wants to escape from the French civil war in the 19th-century. She suddenly jumps on the peaceful life of the old former lovely sisters Filippa and Martine who are honoring the memory of their late father, a stern preacher, by doing good works and hosting prayer groups, have long since rejected the pleasures of life.

Babette accepts to work for them as their cook and housekeeper for 15 years when she wins the lottery. She then decides to organize an opulent feast to offer the community where she lives sumptuous dishes paired with delicate wines, "just because I am willing to bring you an unforgettable moment, as my gift to you".

How can we resist this warm feast which reflects the beautiful personality of Babette? The "soupe of tortue", the "blinis Demidoff", the "cailles en sarcophage", the "baba au rhum" are kind of portions of everyday sensuality...People around the table realize the essence of their existence: they are lucky to be together, to share a day-to-day life, surrounded by the quiet energy of their faith and love, beyond the superficial obstacles and disputes...

Why not adopting this approach to disconnect, unwind and restore inner energy?

To go beyond the stars: Find and read the novel which has inspired the movie, from de Karen Blixen. A well-deserved and delicious parenthesis!
